Modified Frame Measurements

Webster City, IA -- In light of recent concerns over Modified frame measurements, USMTS and USRA officials have drafted an updated measurement form for all competitors to follow from this point forward. Series officials have spent countless hours over the past several weeks measuring various brands of cars and talking with many experts in the sport. After careful consideration this new guideline will provide clarity and consistency for both officials and race teams.

“Our officials have really worked hard to figure out the best plan for our cars going forward,”stated USMTS President, Todd Staley. “We will be teching the measurements and they are pretty easy to check. We also know there is some variance from frame to frame and have some leeway in the updated rules.”

Added USRA Technical Director Darlo Mulder, “If these cars don't meet dimensions right out of the box we're not going to disqualify them and prevent them from competition. Every car is a little different and our handling of this will be on a case by case basis. Each time we get a car that's off, we'll decide how it needs to be fixed and by what date. The goal is to get the problem fixed, not prevent drivers and teams from competing.”

These revised rules will take effect January 1, 2015. Anyone with questions about these updates are encouraged to call the series office at (515)832-6000. To view the frame measurements please go to http://www.usmts.com/ClientFiles/Downloads/mod%20frame.pdf.

As the off season seems to speed by one last event remains on the schedule. The USMTS Banquet will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Harrah's Casino in Kansas City, Missouri. The USMTS kicks off its 2015 trek beginning February 12-14 at South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi, Texas. USRA points will begin with sanctioned action starting in late February.
