High ‘n’ dry, ready to fly in Humboldt Saturday night

The weather is divine and the forecast is fine in Humboldt, Kan., as USMTS Modified and Out-Pace USRA B-Mod drivers, crew members and fans get ready for the finale of the King of America VII Modified Nationals presented by Summit Racing at the Humboldt Speedway Saturday night.

Mother Nature paid a quick visit to ‘The Hummer’ Friday night just as the final USMTS heat took the green flag. That race, plus last night’s postponed $1,500-to-win Iron Man Challenge main event for the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will kick off Saturday’s show.

After wrapping up the remainder of Friday night’s business, racing action will get underway with an “alphabet soup” of main events for the USMTS Modifieds plus a complete program of heat races and “B” Mains for the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods.

The grand finale will be nearly 100 laps of racing with a $1,000-to-win main event for the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods while the USMTS Modifieds will close out the show with their $10,000-to-win, $1,000-to-start, 70-lap championship feature.

With several race tracks in the region pulling the plug on their shows this weekend, new drivers are invited to come take part of the excitement. In addition to a complete show for Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Modified drivers are welcome to take the challenge of starting at the rear of a last-chance race and climbing the ladder all the way to the main event.

The ground is dry as a bone here at the Humboldt Speedway.

The entry fee for Modifieds is $400, but just taking the green flag in a Last Chance Race is worth $300 and if you start the “C” Main you will earn at least $400. All “B” Main starters get a minimum of $600 and every “A” Main starter will garner no less than $1,000.

The entry fee for Out-Pace USRA B-Mods is $75 at the gate. The main event pays $1,000 to win and at least $100 to start. All non-qualifiers get $50. In addition to the Iron Man Challenge, drivers will also earn national points in the Summit Racing USRA Weekly Racing Series.

Racing is slated to start at 6:30 p.m. Spectator tickets are $25, kids ages 6-12 get in for $10 and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge.

If you can’t be there in person, go to www.racindirt.com/live to order your pay-per-view today, and don't miss a lap of this year's King of America VII Modified Nationals presented by Summit Racing.
