Rain postpones final 46 laps of Masters to Sunday morning

Rain postpones final 46 laps of Masters to Sunday morning

They started one hour early, waited out two rain delays and ran a full program without a hitch, but officials at the Cedar Lake Speedway were forced to postpone the final 46 laps of Saturday night’s Masters main event until 11 a.m. Sunday morning.

With 24 laps in the books, the second round of rain began to fall on the historic speedplant in New Richmond, Wis., and continued to fall until the plug was officially pulled at 11 p.m.

When racing resumes Sunday morning, Ryan Gustin will be the leader of the race, which pays $50,000 to win and a minimum of $2,000 to each of the 26 starters.

Polesitter Josh Angst, Rodney Sanders, Cade Dillard and Jimmy Mars are currently second, third, fourth and fifth, while Zack VanderBeek, Jake Hartung, Joe Duvall, Johnny Scott and Terry Phillips round out the running order in the top 10.

Gates will open at 10 a.m. Sunday and the green flag waves at 11 a.m.

The main event will produce the biggest winner’s check in the 19-year history of the USMTS, and the first time in track that the Cedar Lake Speedway will pay out $50,000 to win a Modified event.

RacinDirt will have the event live online. Visit www.racindirt.com to watch.

The Cedar Lake Speedway is a high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval located 1.0 mile east of SR 35 on SR 64, then 4.2 miles north on CR C to CR CC, then left 1.8 miles. For more information, call (612) 363-0479 or (715) 248-7119 or check out www.cedarlakespeedway.com online.
