USMTS to invade Butler County Speedway, June 8

ALLISON, IA (June 5, 2000) — The United States Modified Touring Series will invade Butler County Speedway in Allison, IA this Thursday night. This will be the first USMTS race of the season at the speedway. The USMTS modifieds will be running along with the USMTS stock cars and hobby stocks. The modified portion will pay $2000 to win and $200 to start. The stock cars will pay $600 to win and $75 to start. The hobby stocks will pay $400 to win and $50 to start. The only tire for this event is the American racer no Hoosiers.

The modified portion of this race will be a qualifier for the Mr. Midwest race that is run at the Driver’s Dream race labor day weekend. This race will pay $5000 to win. In 1999 John Logue was the winner of Mr. Midwest. USMTS has not determined how the driver will qualify for the event as of yet. There may be a race for all non-qualifiers to give all drivers a chance for this event. It will be announced at the drivers meeting.

This will be the first race for the stock cars and hobby stocks to run with the USMTS. Pro-Environmental has come on board as a sponsor of these races also. There will be three $25 cash awards at each event that will be run. USMTS is not calling this a series for stock cars and hobby stocks. A name will be announced later for this. If the first race is a success the next race will be held June 21 at Webster City. Rules are 1999 IMCA rules with rollers allowed. The claim will be $500 or exchange. No weight rule. The tire will be the American Racer only at all events.

After Allison on June 8th the next race will be Tuesday June 20th at Crawford County Speedway in Denison and Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, IA on Wednesday June 21st. There is the possibilty of a race being held at Davenport the next night. This will be announced at Allison on Thursday. See you at the races.
