Bone buries USMTS foes in Humboldt



HUMBOLDT, KS (June 28, 2000) — Johnny Bone Jr. (Pea Ridge, AR) captured his first USMTS victory on the beautiful night in Humboldt, KS. Bone started the race from the AFCO pole and had many challenges from Jason Hughes Colcord, OK and Klint Pursley Locust Grove, OK on many different occasions.

Hughes and Bone swapped the lead four different times throughout the race. The race was marred with five cautions within the first eight laps before they ran eighteen laps before the next yellow.

After the last caution Hughes and Pursley’s tires glazed over and these two drivers struggled to finish the race in the top five. Local favorite Dan Daniels started the race in the eleventh position worked all the way up to finish third.

The driver on the move was Mark Noble Blooming Prairie, MN who started the main event in the seventh row after winning one of the two B-mains finished second to Bone.

For the win, Bone pocketed the $2,000 payday and increased his lead in the Midwest Motorsports Rookie of the Year program.

A very good crowd witnessed some of the best modified racing action ever at the speedway thirty-five cars checked in for the racing with some of the best modifieds in the USA on hand. After the racing action on Wednesday Kelly Shryock still holds the point lead over Mark Noble. Heat races were won by Kevin Peters, Johnny Saathoff, John Allen, and Justin Folk. B-mains were won by Mark Noble and Eddie Martin.

Next race on the USMTS schedule will be July 20 at the Butler County Speedway in Allison, IA.
