Wisconsin doubleheader next for USMTS

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (July 13, 2001) - The next two races for the United States Modified Touring Series will be Friday July 20th at the Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia, WI and Cedar Lake Speedway in Somerset, WI on Saturday July 21st. These two races will be for the north region. Mike Chasteen is on a roll in the north region picking up three wins in a row. The first nights races will be the second visit and final visit for the 2001 season. Mike Chasteen picked up the win with Jason Hughes and Tommy Myer in striking distance. Forty-three cars checked in for the racing action on June 27th. A strong field is expected for these next two races and USMTS is expecting more than fifty cars from eight states to be represented. So far the series has raced seven times in the north region and Kelly Shryock leads Mike Sorensen in the point standings. Chasteen who missed the first race is making a hard charge to catch these two drivers.

These two shows together will give fans the chance to see two of the nicest race facilities in the US as Dave and Judy Hesch have put together one of the finest racer and fan friendly speedways in the country. There is not a bad seat in the house. The next night the series will move north to Somerset, WI where Gary and Bob Cook have one of the strongest Saturday night programs in the country. This race track is also very racer and fan friendly as there is not a bad seat in the house. The USMTS has had a few years away from the Cedar Lake Speedway, but the last visit to the speedway saw Mike Spaulding from Bemidji, MN pick up his first ever USMTS win. A strong field of more than sixty cars was on hand that night.

Fans will be treated to some great side by side modified racing these two nights and some lucky fan could win up to $5000 with the Olympic Fire Protection pick six program. A lucky boy or girl will also win a bicycle each night as USMTS will have two bicycles to give away. A special autograph session will also take place each night. The winner of the Simpson Race Products A-main will take home the $2000 winners prize each night. Some of the expected drivers are: Kelly Shryock, Mark Noble, Tommy Myer, Rick Gustin, Ron Schreiner, Mike Spaulding, Tim Donlinger, Mike Sorensen, Mike Chasteen, Kevin Peters, Ron Jones, Brad McEwan, Jay Ihrke, Todd Klees, Kevin Peters, Brad Waits plus many many more.
