Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS up next for USMTS South Region April 25-26

HUMBOLDT, Kan. (April 21, 2002) - The United States Modified Touring Series will make its first appearance of the season at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS this Thursday and Friday April 25-26. USMTS has had three races so far this season in the south region. The series started out in Winston, MO with Kelly Shryock picking up the win on Saturday March 30th . The first night saw Chanute, KS driver John Allen pick up the A-main qualifier feature while Allen and Shryock reversed roles on the $3000 to win Saturday main event. The series then moved to Arkansas for a two-day $3000 to win race and local driver Brad Green won on Friday and Kelly Shryock picked up his second straight USMTS win. The series raced this last weekend in Canton, IL for a two-day $4000 to win show and Mark Noble from Blooming Prairie, MN picked up the win with local driver Dan Daniels picking up his third straight top ten finish. Racing will get underway this Thursday night with hot laps at 7pm and racing at 7:30 pm. A complete show will be run each night for the modifieds. On Thursday all modifieds will run heats, B-mains, and an A-main qualifier. The top eight drivers in the A-main qualifier will be locked into Friday nights $3000 to win A-main. All cars that fail to qualify on Thursday will redraw and run heat races and B-mains before the main event on Friday night. Also running each night will be the Street Stocks and the Bombers. A good field of cars is expected for this event as drivers from more than ten states are expected. Some of the expected drivers are local favorites Jess Folk, Whitey Folk, Tom Folk, Rodney Sigg, Dan Daniels, Scott Daniels, John Allen plus many more. Some of the expected traveling drivers that will be on hand are: current USMTS point leader Kelly Shryock, Tommy Myer, Mike Chasteen, last years two time Humboldt winner Jason Hughes, Tim Donlinger, Mark Dotson, Luke Cochran, Klint Pursley, Steve Holzkamper, Randy Zimmerman, Gary Clark, Justin Boney, Marc Robe, Johnny Bone, Johnny Saathoff, and Joey Kates. After three races Kelly Shryock has an 18 point lead over Tommy Myer with Dan Daniels running third 43 points behind Shryock. We are currently working with Johnny Saathoff to bring his two-seat car that will give fans a chance to see what it is like to ride with there favorite driver as we will be selling chances for some lucky fan to jump into a race car and make ten laps. For more information on this race call the USMTS office at 515-832-7944 or log onto the USMTS website at www.usmts.com . Hope to see everyone this Thursday and Friday night at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS.
