USMTS to race at Godfrey Speedway April 16th
GODFREY, Ill. (April 10, 2003) - The United States Modified Touring Series will return to the Godfrey Speedway in Godfrey, IL April 16th for the first visit in three years to the speedway. Last time the USMTS visited the speedway local favorite Jason Connoyer topped the field of forty-eight cars.
This race will see many new faces as the USMTS will be in Illinois for a four-day swing that will begin at the Godfrey Speedway before moving to Macon Speedway in Macon, IL for the George Handley Memorial that will feature Winston Cup Driver Ken Schrader on hand driving his Dirt Works Modified.
The series will conclude at the Spoon River Speedway in Canton on Friday and Saturday. Each race will pay $2000 to win with the series final at Spoon paying $2500 to the winner. The two races at Godfrey and Macon will be south region races with the race at Spoon River being the first north region race of the 2003 race season.
