Bohr loses hair over USMTS win at Southern Iowa

DECORAH, Iowa -- Dan Bohr scored his first ever United States Modified Touring Series win Saturday, April 3rd at Southern Iowa Speedway. The team is all a ”buzz” after the checkered flag.

“I’ll shave my head after we get our first USMTS win,” Bohr offered just a few days before the G&K Services, Dan’s Standard, Bob Pierce Chassis number 66 began competing for the 2004 USMTS Rookie of the Year title. The razor “buzzed” Monday night in the Decorah, IA race shop as Bohr made good on his promise.

After winning his heat race, Bohr would start sixth in the USMTS A-Main. Shortly after the drop of the green flag, Bohr had trouble develop.

“The front brakes began to fade,” remembers Bohr. ‘It was a challenge to drive the rest of the race. Once the car was in the lead, there was a lot of lapped traffic to deal with.”

With laps winding down and heavy lapped traffic, Bohr began to feel the pressure.

“I could hear (Jon) Tesch behind me,” explained Bohr. “I had to drive through lapped traffic. That can be tough sometimes, because they are racing for position too. We were able to cut though pretty cleanly.” Bohr was able to hold off Tesch to secure his first ever USMTS win.

Next up for the Dan Bohr Race Team will be a two-day swing with the USMTS. Thursday night they will head to Steele County Fairgrounds (Owatonna, MN). Friday, April 9th will be a stop at Hancock County Speedway (Britt, IA). Team sponsor RaceRPM.com will provide Live Audio Updates from Hancock County Speedway (www.RaceRPM.com/Live).
