O’Reilly Auto Parts USMTS announces AFCO Challenge for 2005

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa -- The O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) and AFCO have put together the AFCO Challenge for the upcoming race season.

The 2005 race season with the O’Reilly Auto Parts USMTS has went through some changes in the points system and the final details for the AFCO Challenge have been put together between Bill Floyd of AFCO and USMTS promoter Todd Staley.

“We have been working out the details for some time and have come to terms with AFCO,” Staley said.

The AFCO Challenge will be consist of the remaining races on the O’Reilly Auto Parts USMTS schedule after the first 40 scheduled races. Any driver that raced in a minimum of 20 of the first 40 races will be eligible for the AFCO Challenge.

The AFCO Challenge will start with the 41st event and will continue through the end of the 2005 season. A rigorous 56 O’Reilly Auto Parts USMTS events are scheduled, so the final 16 races will mark the AFCO Challenge races.

The points winner of the AFCO Challenge will receive more than $10,000 in cash and contingencies. Add this to the National Championship and it could be possible for one driver to walk away with more than $20,000 at the year-end O’Reilly Auto Parts USMTS banquet.

Any driver that competes in 20 or more races leading up to the AFCO Challenge must have an O’Reilly USMTS National License to be part of the AFCO Challenge.

“We are currently working on several more cash sponsors and contingency sponsors for the series and the AFCO Challenge,” added Staley. “More details will be announced on the AFCO Challenge and the O’Reilly Auto Parts USMTS in the near future.”

Pro-Environmental and Pro-Line Buildings will be two of the 10-race National Swing sponsors in 2005. The final two sponsors will be named in the next couple of weeks.
