Ramirez follows USMTS to Missouri and Oklahoma

Thursday night saw Dereck Ramirez return with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Dallas County Speedway (Urbana, Mo.) for the second annual Bullring Bash. Jumping up two spots in his heat, Ramirez recorded a third place finish, which positioned him ninth on the starting grid for the open night feature. Gaining one spot in the 40-lap affair, Dereck posted an eighth place finish.

On Friday evening at Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, Mo.), Dereck locked his spot into the $3,000-to-win A-Main with an 8-lap heat race victory. Rolling off on the front row, Ramirez shot out to the lead on the opening lap and led the first four circuits before Rodney Sanders snuck by. Hanging on to a podium spot, Dereck scored a second place finish behind Sanders with Tyler Wolff, Jason Hughes, and Tanner Mullens completing the Top-5 finishers.

For the eighth annual ARMI Salute to our Veterans on Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Okla.), Ramirez charged forward four spots in his heat race to finish third. Losing one spot in the 40-lap feature, Dereck recorded a ninth place outing.

Dereck sits 151 points behind Sanders for second in the latest USMTS point standings.
