Sanders bags podium finish in Cajun Clash at Ark-La-Tex

Rodney Sanders traveled to 81 Speedway (Park City, Kan.) on Wednesday afternoon to open a four-race stretch with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). With 40 Modifieds entered, Rodney jumped up one spot in his heat race to pick up the win. Improving one spot in the 35-lap feature, Sanders recorded a fourth-place finish. He trailed Jake O’Neil, Tanner Mullens, and Jake Timm to the checkers with Lucas Schott coming in fifth.

On Thursday afternoon at RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas), Sanders came in seventh in his heat before placing fourth in his B-Main. With $5,000 on the line in the feature, Rodney was an early retiree with six circuits remaining.

The following night at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, La.) for the ninth annual Cajun Clash, Rodney’s eight-lap heat race win positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Wheeling his way into a podium position, Sanders gained four spots to place fourth. Terry Phillips and Tanner Mullens stood atop the podium while Dereck Ramirez and Jake Timm rounded out the Top-5.

For the weekend finale on Saturday at Revolution Park (Monroe, La.), Sanders scored a second-place finish in his heat but was an early retiree from the feature on lap 27.

He sits 79 markers behind Jake O’Neil for second in the latest USMTS point standings.
