Thompson Treks to King of America XI
Cody Thompson trekked to Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway over the weekend for the King of America XI with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). After seeing Thursday's opener delayed by Mother Nature, action kicked off on Friday with Cody qualifying 12th fastest in his group.
He advanced from 11th to sixth in his heat race, which sent him to a B-Main. Thompson would be unable to transfer to the feature, bringing his opening round action to an early end.
On Saturday night, Cody qualified 10th fastest, which positioned him 10th on the starting grid for his heat race. Advancing to a fourth-place finish in his heat, Cody locked into the 12th-starting spot for the $15,000-to-win King of America XI finale.
After going to the back of the pack late in the 60 lapper, Cody rebounded to finish 19th.
