King of America XII Brings Thompson to Kansas

Cody Thompson traveled to Kansas for the opening round of the King of America XII presented by Shocker Hitch on Thursday evening.

Sixty-two United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) competitors entered the event at Humboldt Speedway. Heat race action found Cody leading the way from the pole of his heat race until lap 6 when mechanical issues sent him pitside.

Buried deep in the starting grid for a B-Main, Cody was only able to manage a 14th-place finish, which brought his night to an early end.

After seeing Friday's program washed away, the $12,000-to-win finale was held on Saturday. After qualifying ninth in his time trial group, Cody finished ninth in his heat race, which relegated him to a B-Main. He advanced five spots to finish ninth, but it was good enough to earn him a spot in the feature as his outing came to an early end.
