Stock Car Nationals set for Saturday at Deer Creek

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Sept. 9, 2025)—The Altenburg Construction Stock Car Nationals has quickly become a must attend event for both racers and fans alike. The 2025 event will be the seventh year hosted by the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.

This year’s race will be held on Saturday, September 13 and the Stock Car A-Main will once again pay $10,000 to the winner. The USRA Hobby Stocks will continue to be a part of the program racing for $1500 to win.

Let’s take a look at the history of this event, first with the Stock Cars. There have been five different winners in the first six years. Dillon Anderson of Decorah, IA won the inaugural event in 2019. Kyle Falck of Decorah, IA won the first of his two titles in 2020 and the other came in 2022. Eljah Zevenbergen of Ocheyedan, IA won the race in 2021. Dylan Thornton of Orcutt, CA was the 2023 champion and Kelly Shryock of Fertile, IA is the defending race champion.

No driver has made all six A-Mains, but five drivers have five starts. Falck is one of those and besides his two wins has a top five finish too. Other drivers with five starts are Derek Green, Chanse Hollatz, Mitch Hovden and Lynn Panos.

Green’s best finish came in 2022 and 2023 when he finished eighth. Hollatz’s best run was a fourth place finish in 2021. Hovden finished second in 2020 and third in 2022. Panos’ best feature run was in 2021 with a third place finish.

Last year 64-drivers from seven states entered the race. They came from Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kansas and California. In the first six years, 90-different drivers have made an A-Main start.

Now a peek at the Hobby Stock class. There also have been five different winners in six races. Jamie Songer of Ankeny, IA won in 2019 while Dustin Gulbrandson of Sioux Falls, SD. took the title in 2020. Dylan Clinton of West Union, IA went back-to-back in 2021 and 2022. Dylan Nelson of Adel, IA was the 2023 champion and Nick Schwebach from Spring Valley, MN won last year.

Two drivers have made all six races. Justin Lichty of Urbana, IA and Joshua Ludeking from Decorah, IA have started all six A-Mains. Lichty’s best finish was fourth in 2022 while Ludeking’s best run was also a fourth place finish in 2021.

Scott Spilde, Paul Seabrooke, Steve Larson and Landon Krohn have started five main events. Splide’s best finish was 13th in 2021, while Seabrooke finished fifth in 2023. Larson’s best run was a sixth place finish in 2019 and Krohn finished fifth last year.

In the 2024 race, 47-drivers from Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and South Dakota were entered. There have been 80-different drivers to start and A-Main.
