USMTS Invades Mississippi for First-Ever Doubleheader Showdown

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (April 7, 2026) - The Summit Racing Equipment USMTS presented by RacinDirt.com is headed into uncharted territory this weekend as the nation’s toughest Modified drivers roll south for a historic two-night Mississippi debut.

For the first time ever, the USMTS will tackle Hattiesburg Speedway (Friday, April 10) and Mitchell’s Motorplex in Perkinston (Saturday, April 11), setting the stage for a true “Mississippi vs. The Nation” showdown with $5,000 to win each night.

Teams will get their first look at Mississippi clay with an open practice Thursday night (6:30–9:00 p.m.) at Hattiesburg Speedway, a crucial session considering no USMTS driver has ever competed at either facility.

In 28 years of USMTS competition, only one Mississippi driver has ever reached victory lane, and it came on one of the biggest stages.

In 2021, Brooks Strength shocked the field by winning the prestigious King of America, leading all 60 laps and collecting a $20,000 payday.

Now the rumor mill is heating up…

Word is circulating that Strength could return this weekend in the No. 97 CDR Modified, looking to defend home turf against the best Modified drivers in America.

Saturday be on the look out for a Cajun Seafood Gumbo Sale in the Mitchell's Motorplex pit area.

The pit gate at Hattiesburg Speedway will be open all day, followed by general admission gates at 5:00 PM.

Hot Laps are set to begin at 6:25 PM, followed by Hodges Farms & Dredging Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and an A-main event.

Hattiesburg Speedway is located at 4663 US 49 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. For more information about Hattiesburg Speedway, check them out on their website at www.hattiesburgspeedway.net/

Mitchell's Motorplex is located at 1192 Vestry Road in Perkinston, Mississippi. Be sure to visit the track’s website at www.mitchellsmotorplex.com/.
