Rodney Sanders claims a pair of third-places finishes in USMTS opener

Back behind the wheel of his Wichita Tank Racing No. 20 Modified, Rodney Sanders invaded Rocket Raceway Park (Petty, Texas) on Friday afternoon to compete in the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) opening weekend. In a stout field of 76 cars, Sanders followed up a third-place finish in his heat with a consolation victory. Wheeling his way into the Top-5 in the feature, Rodney passed 10 cars in the 40-lapper to finish 3rd. He trailed Dustin Sorensen and Jason Hughes to the checkers.

On Saturday, Rodney’s second-place finish in his heat positioned him 10th on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win feature. He initially crossed the line in fourth but was elevated to a third-place finish after another competitor was disqualified.
