Sanders Sweeps Red, White & Blue Nationals at Tri-State Speedway

POCOLA, Okla. (May 8, 2026) - Rodney Sanders completed the sweep at Tri-State Speedway during the Red, White & Blue Nationals, capping off a huge weekend with another trip to Victory Lane.

A total of 38 drivers checked in for Night #2 of the double-feature showdown, and Sanders started the main event from the Sybesma Graphics Pole Award. Much like the rainout portion of Night #1, Jim Chisholm was the driver to beat early, leading the first 26 circuits before an incident in turn one forced the 2024 National Champion to the rear of the field.

Sanders took control from there, leading the final 14 laps and collecting his second Happy Gilmore check of the night. In Victory Lane, Sanders said that with rubber around the racing surface, it was going to take a big mishap for Chisholm to give it away. He added that it was a great points weekend to go along with the $10,000 payday.

The win marked Sanders’ 129th career USMTS victory. With a spectacular weekend, Sanders moved to fourth in the standings and now sits just two points behind Brandon Davis.

Terry Phillips finished second in his Mullens Racing Chassis/Durham Racing Engines No. 75, a strong run for the Springfield, Missouri, veteran. Trevor Hughes came home third with an impressive hometown-track performance. Tanner Mullens finished fourth for the second straight night, while Kyle Brown of Madrid, Iowa, rounded out the top five.

The USMTS now takes a few weeks off before returning for Memorial Day Weekend with stops at Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa; Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa; Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota; and Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa.

Stay tuned for more updates on USMTS social media platforms and at the official website.
