Chisholm Score Gopher 50 Prelim Win

Spring Valley, MN (July 5)

By: Todd Narveson

The NAPA Auto Care Centers USRA Modifieds were the support division for the World of Outlaw Case Late Models for this year’s Napa Gopher 50. Persistent rain on Thursday forced the postponement of day one to Friday afternoon.

More rain on Friday caused a delay in the afternoon programs start time. Twenty-seven Modifeds were on hand for the $1000 to win feature event. Jake O’Neil and Kylie Kath started the 25-lap main event from row one.

O’Neil seized the lead at the start while Kath and Jacob Bleess gave chase. Jim Chisholm worked his way from ninth into the top five. The other car on the move was Joe Chisholm who started 17th. Jim Chisholm eventually worked his way to second and closed in on O’Neil.

Chisholm made the pass for the lead on lap 19 and lead the final six laps for the win. O’Neil would take second with Rodney Sanders in third. Aaron Benson raced from tenth to fourth and Joe Chisholm’s run ended up a fifth-place finish
