Lonestar Speedway opener features $3,000-to-win for USMTS

KILGORE, Texas—The Lonestar Speedway has an incredible event schedule set for race fans and teams in 2015, and continues with the points opener for all divisions on Saturday, March 14, featuring $3,000 to win for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).

A total purse in excess of $20,000 is posted.

This is the first USMTS event at Lonestar Speedway since 2011, and race fans can expect to see many of the nation's finest modified drivers taking on the strong contingent of Lonestar Speedway modified drivers.

Drivers such as Rodney Sanders, Jason Hughes, Dereck Ramirez, Philip Houston, Jesse Sobbing, Zack VanderBeek, Cade Dillard, Adam Penn, Johnny and Stormy Scott, Grant Junghans, Steve Whiteaker Jr., Clyde Dunn Jr., Jason Ingalls, Larry Fears, Wes Armstrong, Billy Melton, Billy Jack Brutchin, Kelly Lockey, Jeff Harris, Robert Taylor, T.J. Steele and Greg Penny, plus a host of many others are expected.

This is also the first time the USMTS Casey’s Cup Series powered by S&S Fishing & Rental has visited Lonestar Speedway under the new wide, high-banked 1/3-mile oval configuration. It was the big 3/8-mile configuration when Ryan Gustin won the last USMTS race here on March 26, 2011, so many of the USMTS drivers have not raced on it, which will make for added excitement.

Johnny Scott won the first USMTS race at the Lonestar Speedway on June 12, 2010—his career-first series victory.

In addition to the $3,000-to-win USMTS event, a complete program of Limited Modifieds ($700 to win) and Factory Stocks ($400 to win) will compete with heats and features.

There is the standard USMTS entry fee in the modifieds, while the Limited Modified and Factory Stock divisions have no entry fee.

Again, all three divisions will receive Lonestar Speedway points, as this is the first points event of 2015.

A very solid payback is posted for the Limited Modifieds and Factory Stocks:

Limited Modifieds: $700, $400, $300, $200, $180, $160, $140, $120, $100, $80, $60 to start; $30 tow.

Factory Stocks: $400, $300, $200, $180, $160, $140, $120, $100, $80, $80, $60, $40 to start; $20 tow.

Special start times are in effect for this event, with hot laps scheduled for 6 p.m. and racing to follow. Pit gates open by 3 p.m. and the grandstand entrance opens at 4:30. Draw cut-off is 5:15 p.m., so drivers, please plan accordingly.

General admission is just $15 for ages 12-64. Kids ages 6-11 are just $5 and children ages 5 and under are admitted free with adult admission. General admission for active military with I.D. and seniors age 65 and older is just $13.

Fans may upgrade any ticket to the reserved section with bucket seats for $5 per person. Pit passes for all ages are $35. Tickets are available at the gate on race day only.

No outside food or drink coolers are allowed inside. A full selection of economically priced food concessions, including beer, are available.
