USMTS caravan checks into Ardmore, Lubbock, Amarillo ovals May 4-6

United States Modified Touring Series drivers embark on the final leg of the grueling race to become champion of the Summit Racing Equipment USMTS Southern Region presented by Production Jars with a tripleheader of events this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 4-6.

Action heats up Thursday with a return trip to the Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Okla. Then on Friday, the series makes its maiden voyage to the West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas, before wrapping up the three-night grind at the Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas.

Each of the three shows will dole out $3,000 to the feature race winner with nearly $60,000 in total prize money up for grabs during the 72-hour swing.

Cade Dillard leads the points battle into this week’s campaign on the strength of his five Summit Southern Region wins. Ricky Thornton Jr. has three victories to his credit and sits in the second spot, followed by Chris Brown, Jason Hughes and Ryan Gustin. Stormy Scott, Zack VanderBeek, Dereck Ramirez, Johnny Scott and Travis Saurer complete the top ten.

Five other pilots—R.C. Whitwell, Joe Duvall, Tyler Wolff, Billy Vogel and Trevor Egbert—hold down the next five spots with a berth in the Hunt for the Casey’s USMTS National Championship hanging in the balance.
