Jackson Speedway canceled; Opener for ‘The Hunt’ back at Decorah Aug. 30

JACKSON, Minn. -- The O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series event slated for Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Jackson (Minn.) Speedway was canceled by track management on Saturday morning. The event will not be rescheduled.

The kickoff of ‘The Hunt’ for the O’Reilly USMTS National Championship now moves back to the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa, on Wednesday night, Aug. 30, for the 2nd Annual Budweiser Summer Challenge presented by NAPA and Decorah Bank & Trust. The event was originally slated for Thursday, Aug. 17, but was rained out. Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 and the mud starts flyin' at 7 for next Wednesday's $2,000-to-win show at the quarter-mile semi-banked clay oval. The Upper Iowa Speedway is located 1.8 miles east of US 52 on SR 9, then 1.0 mile northwest on Montgomery St., then northeast on E. Main St. (at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds) in Decorah, Iowa.

Kelly Shryock of Fertile, Iowa, takes the points lead into ‘The Hunt’ as he chases his eighth straight O’Reilly USMTS title with 14 other drivers looking to dethrone the seven-time defending O’Reilly USMTS National Champion.
