I-70 Speedway show postponed; Other dates shuffled

ODESSA, Mo. -- This weekend's tripleheader for the O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series is now a doubleheader as officials from the I-70 Speedway Dirt Track have postponed the event at the new 3/8-mile semi-banked dirt oval which sits adjacent to the historic I-70 Speedway half-mile asphalt oval.

“With this being our first season on the dirt track, we want to get some more laps in and some weekly shows under our belt before we bring in a quality touring series like USMTS to the new facility,” commented I-70 Speedway owner Brad McDonald.

The inaugural O’Reilly USMTS event at the Odessa, Mo., speedplant has been rescheduled for Wednesday night, June 13.

“We hope the fans and drivers understand we are not canceling the event, we are just backing it up a bit,” said Chuck Stowe, Director of Marketing for I-70 Speedway. “Barring any unforeseen issues, the first USMTS event will be held on Wednesday night, June 13. Furthermore, to better fit the USMTS schedule the second event originally scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 5, will be moved ahead four days to Thursday night, Aug. 9.”

The June 13 event at the I-70 Speedway Dirt Track will be the first of five straight nights of racing in the Show-Me State, while the Aug. 9 event will serve as the final Southern Region points race and prelude to the kickoff of ‘The Hunt’ for the O’Reilly USMTS National Championship, which starts on Friday, Aug. 10, at the Bolivar (Mo.) Speedway USA.

Originally scheduled for June 13, the event at the Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan., has been replaced with the I-70 Speedway event.

O’Reilly USMTS officials also announced today the shuffling of a few other dates on the 2007 slate.

On Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3-4, the rugged road warriors have inserted stops at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield (Iowa) Speedway and Pepsi Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo., respectively. These two National Events were originally slated to take place at the Tri-City and Lake Ozark Speedways, but both tracks have been removed from the schedule.

Also removed from the 2007 schedule is the Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia, Wis., which was originally scheduled to host the O’Reilly USMTS on Aug. 18 as part of ‘The Hunt’ for the O’Reilly USMTS National Championship.
