Weekend washed out for O’Reilly USMTS National Tour

OSKALOOSA, Iowa — O’Reilly USMTS National Tour drivers got an early start to their Spring Break on Thursday when USMTS officials announced that all three events scheduled for this weekend have been postponed due to heavy rainfall in the Southeast Iowa and Northwest Illinois area.

“This is really disappointing for us, our fans and our drivers,” said USMTS president Todd Staley. “All signs pointed to a great weekend of racing, but Mother Nature decided otherwise.”

The rained-out tripleheader was supposed to kick off this Friday at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, with the 7th Annual Spring Classic. That event has been postponed until Wednesday, May 21, which will be the next time that the O’Reilly USMTS National Tour is back in action.

The 7th Annual Spring Classic will now be the launch pad for six straight nights of O’Reilly USMTS National Tour racing during the Memorial Day Weekend:

Wednesday, May 21 … Southern Iowa Speedway, Oskaloosa, IA ($2,000 to win)
Thursday, May 22 … Cresco Speedway, Cresco, IA ($2,000 to win)
Friday, May 23 … Chateau Raceway, Lansing, MN ($2,000 to win)
Saturday, May 24 … Deer Creek Speedway, Spring Valley, MN ($2,000 to win)
Sunday, May 25 … Kasson Speedway, Kasson, MN ($2,000 to win)
Monday, May 26 … Steele County Speedway, Owatonna, MN ($2,000 to win)

The events originally scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at the LaSalle (Ill.) Speedway and Quad City Raceway in East Moline, Ill., will be rescheduled for a later date to be announced soon.

The O’Reilly USMTS Southern Series season will start on Friday, April 18, at Golden Triangle Raceway Park (formerly Motorama Speedway) in Beaumont, Texas, and move over to the Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas, on Saturday night, April 19.

Five straight weekends of O’Reilly USMTS Southern Series action are on deck:
