USMTS drivers get “tired” during 2008 campaign

INDIANA, Pa. — Throughout the 2008 racing season, at least one driver at each O’Reilly USMTS National Tour and O’Reilly USMTS Southern Series event will get “tired” — even before the first green flag flies.

No, there's not been a new study revealing elevated levels of radon seeping from America's finest clay ovals. In fact, you have a better chance of seeing Bigfoot playing badminton with the Loch Ness Monster than seeing somebody yawn at a USMTS race.

Sometimes, however, the nightly drivers meeting hosted by USMTS promoter Todd Staley can be somewhat monotonous so we've come up with something that's sure to keep the competitors' eyes open during the pre-race speech:

Beginning at the March 28 event at the LA Raceway in LaMonte, Mo., every driver at every event will have an equal chance of winning a brand-new American Racer KK704 racing tire.

“All drivers have a shot at winning a new American Racer tire whether they have a USMTS license or not,” Staley said. “And every driver should join us in thanking Dave Mateer American Racing Tires, Jerry Boubin from Boubin Tire and Dan Hamilton from Day Motor Sports for making this happen.”

Boubin Tire, located in Independence, Iowa, will give away a new American Racer KK704 at each O’Reilly USMTS National Tour event while Day Motor Sports in Tyler, Texas, will take care of the competitors in the O’Reilly USMTS Southern Series.

The winner will be determined by random selection using the line-up draw chips each driver selected. The driver must be present at the drivers meeting in order to win.

“We're just trying to do more to help the drivers with the rising fuel costs,” Staley added. “We're very fortunate to have a bunch of great sponsors that believe in this Series and these drivers.”

The USMTS is celebrating its 10th Anniversary Season in 2008 with many special promotions to show thanks to the fans, drivers, team members, families and sponsors who have helped make the USMTS the premier dirt modified series in the nation.
