USMTS National Tour to start June 4-5 at Belleville High Banks



WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (May 28, 2002) - The United States Modified Touring Series will start its USMTS National Tour next week at the Historic Belleville Highbanks in Belleville, KS on Tuesday and Wednesday June 4-5. The national tour will consist of fifteen race nights in seventeen days making this a first for the USMTS modifieds. The race at Belleville will be a two-day $5000 to win modified show and is expected to bring in some of the top modified drivers in the country.

A strong field of more than sixty cars is expected for this event. The raindate for this event is Thursday June 6 th.

Fans will be treated to feature events each night. Heat races, B-mains, and the main event each night. On Wednesday heat races, B-mains, and the $5000 to win main event will be on the schedule. Racing will get underway with hot laps at 7pm and racing at 7:30 each night.

The series will then move to the north with a visit to the Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND for the 7 th Annual Fisher Motors Roughrider Classic on Friday-Sunday June 7-9.

This race will pay $1000 the first two nights and $5000 on Sunday. This will be the first ever trip for the USMTS into North Dakota.

A big field of cars is expected for this event as well. On Tuesday June 11 th the series will make its first appearance of the season to the Crawford County Speedway in Denison, IA. this race will be the first night of a ten night swing.

For the fans that have not been to Denison more changes as a completely new grandstand has been put in as well as new concession and bathrooms. The series will make its final appearance of the season to the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS. This race will be a topless 50. All cars will race with the roofs off of their modifieds. The series will then move to the Wheatland Raceway in Wheatland, MO on Thursday June 13 th. This will be the first ever appearance at the speedway for the USMTS.

On Friday June 14 th another first visit as a stop at the Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO.

On Saturday June 15 th the first appearance of two to the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO.

The next two nights will be first ever appearances as the USMTS will stop on Sunday at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA and Monday at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA.

The last three night of racing will happen with stops at Allison, IA on Tuesday June 18 th, then another stop at Deer Creek Speedway in Racine, MN. The final night of racing will happen at the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, MN on Thursday June 20 th. A special point fund has been put together for this huge swing and more than $225,000 will be paid out purse money.
