Krohn rolls at Rock Rapids

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa – Jason Krohn of Slayton, Minn., dominated the main event Friday night as the O’Reilly USMTS National Tour made their third annual trek to the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

The win was worth $2,000 to the defending O’Reilly USMTS National Champion and his third of the season.

Krohn held off Thursday night's winner, Jon Tesch, at the finish, while Kelly Shryock, Al Hejna and Tommy Weder Jr. followed in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Dereck Ramirez was the top-finishing rookie in sixth, Jason Hughes was seventh, Josh Reisch eighth, Zack VanderBeek ninth and Corey Dripps was tenth.

Dripps started 19th in the 35-lap nightcap and passed nine cars to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award.

Shryock continues atop the Great Plains Region points with just two races remaining in the ultra-competitive region. VanderBeek is 38 points behind (732 to 694) in second, followed by Tesch (684), Weder (623), Hejna (615), Brandon Kenny (611), Ramirez (587), Krohn (554), Scott Green (550) and Hughes (516), who muscled his way into the top-10 despite having missed two events in the Great Plains Region earlier this season.

The rugged road warriors of the O’Reilly USMTS National Tour wrap up their three-state, six-race, six-track mini-series tomorrow night (Saturday, June 28) at the Noble County Speedway in Worthington, Minn.
