WINSTON, Mo. (Oct. 15, 2002) - The United States Modified Touring Series will finish up the 2002 race season this weekend at the Winston Speedway in Winston, MO for the 1st ever USMTS Fall Nationals. The racing this weekend will feature some of America’s top modified drivers do battle one last time in Missouri. A very good field of cars is expected for this event. Drivers from more than twelve states will register for the more than $50000 purse for modifieds. The USMTS will have a practice session on Wednesday night for all classes. Practice will start at 6pm and finish at 9:30. People will be in the grandstands free of charge. Pit passes will be $15 on Wednesday night.

This race will be a different format for drivers and fans as a complete show will be ran each night. On Thursday night fans will be treated to some great side by side racing that will feature Modifieds, B-mods, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks. On Thursday the Hobby Stocks will pay $300 to win. The B-Mods and Street Stocks will pay $500 to win. The modifieds will pay $2000 to win. The chargers will pay $400. There will be an entry fee each night for drivers in the four classes. The racing will get underway at 6:30 on Thursday and Friday with racing set for 5pm on Saturday.

This will be the third USMTS three-day show and these shows have been great success as drivers have many chances to make good money. The first race was in September in Minnesota and more than 100 modifieds showed up for the racing action. This last weekend in Iowa more than 75 different modifieds raced over the three days. With these three-day shows five different winners have taken home the top paycheck. In Minnesota Jason Hughes, Kelly Shryock, and Mark Noble picked up wins. In Iowa Chris Spieker, John VanDenBerg, and Kelly Shryock picked up the wins who will be next in Missouri. We have had calls from Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Pit Passes will be $25 and adults will be $10 on Thursday, $12 on Friday and $15 on Saturday. Some of the expected drivers for the modifieds are: Kelly Shryock, Tommy Myer, Jason Hughes, Justin Boney, Marc Robe, John Allen, John VanDenBerg, Chris Spieker, Mark Noble, Luke Cochran, Steve and Joe Kosiski, Johnny Saathoff, Kevin Larkins, Johnny Bone, Randy Zimmerman, Corey Dripps and Dean Wray plus many, many more. More than seventy modifieds is expected for this race.

This will be the final race of the season for the USMTS and a lot of things are taking shape for the 2003 race season to make it the best season yet for the USMTS.
