Afternoon downpour pushes West Union to Tuesday



WEST UNION, Iowa – The O'Reilly USMTS National Tour event slated for Sunday night at the Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa has been postponed to Tuesday, Sept. 16. The $2,000-to-win event will serve as a prelude to next week's Featherlite Fall Jamboree which begins on Wednesday.

Kelly Shryock of Fertile, Iowa is seeking his unprecedented ninth O'Reilly USMTS National Champion, and leads Tim Donlinger of Rochester, Minn. by just eight points (944 to 936) heading into the West Union blockbuster.

Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon, Iowa is third with 915 markers, followed by Jon Tesch of Watertown, S.D. (884); Al Hejna of Clear Lake, Iowa (836); Tommy Weder Jr. of Woodward, Okla. (762); Dereck Ramirez of Woodward, Okla. (756); Brandon Kenny of Woodward, Okla. (717); Alan Mondus of Lakeville, Minn. (701); and Waterloo, Iowa's Corey Dripps (678).

Other drivers expected at West Union include Ron Ver Beek, Scott Green, Jake Neal, Bryan Rowland, Bob Timm, Ryan Gustin, Dean Mahlstedt, Steve Wetzstein, Donovan Lodge, Dan Bohr, Tommy Myer, Mike Sorensen, Jay Ihrke, Jason Cummins, Richie Gustin Jr., Jeff Schluetter, Mark Noble, Doug Hillson, Joey Schaefer, Kevin Pittman, Pat Graham and more.

Pits and grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 and the mud starts flying at 7 p.m.

Also on the racing card will be USRA Stocks Cars, USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks racing for national points in the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series.
