USMTS at Outlaw Motor Speedway this weekend

MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- The United States Touring Modified Series will make a three day tour through the Oklahoma and Southern Missouri area this weekend.

Last year Tommy Myer of Blooming Prairie, MN stormed through the field on his way to capture the final night of USMTS racing.

Myer started 16th, but made his climb through the pack to edge Mark Noble also from Blooming Prairie at the line on the last lap of the 30 lap race.

Colcord’s Jason Hughes took the first nights festivities after jumping out to a 10 car lead with 12 laps to go.

Holding off Muskogee's Gary Andrews in the process.

Last season over 65 modifieds checked in for the weekend racing.

Some USMTS drivers expected to show are Hughes, Kelly Shyrock, Myer, Noble, Bruce Hanford, Al Hejna, John Logue, Kenny Gaddis, Zack Vanderbeek, John Tesch, Ryan Ruter, Dan Bohr and Craig Scott.

Drivers familular to the 3/8 mile oval that are expected to show are, Pea Ridge Arkansas Johnny Bone Jr., Tommy Weder Jr., Eddie Martin, Rex Merrit and Scott Drake.

One can’t forget some of the local favorites. Points leader Mike “Fuzzy” Withrow is sure to make a push for the win.

Outlaws 2003 points champion Gary Andrews should make a bid, finishing third last season when USMTS came to town.

Muskogee’s Tate Cole stole the $3000 to win earlier this season and should be charging to the front.

Other favorites are Terry Beckham II, Chad Wheeler, Lary Rupe, Klint Pursley, Jerry Thompson, Jay Arnold and William Gould.

“This should be a great weekend for Modified racing,” said Track Owner Gary Clay. “These guys put on a good show last season and they should put on a great show for the fans this time also.”

PLEASE NOTE: A change in the rainout policy. Any Friday rainout will be raced the following Sunday. Hot laps begin at 4:00, racing at 5:00. For this weekend, the prices are regular race prices for the grandstands. If the USMTS Modfieds are rained out, they will not race Sunday due to prior commitments.
